The Storm String Studio welcomes all string students ages 4 and older. Joanna Storm offers violin lessons, viola lessons, and cello lessons.

What makes lessons at Storm String Studio unique

Students in this studio are encouraged to focus on producing a sound they enjoy and feel proud of, instead of just looking to pass the next level test. Music at the Storm String Studio is about personal pride and enjoyment, rather than academic achievement.
Goals are discussed with and decided upon with the student, not taken from some generic checklist. Students are encouraged to take personal ownership of their specific skills.
Miss Joanna uses her knowledge of educational, developmental, and child psychology to adapt explanations to a student's learning style and developmental stage.
Lessons at Storm String Studio do not just include how to play the instrument, they also include discussions on practice methods: what to practice, how often and how long, how to identify and correct mistakes, etc.
Interactive learning: Miss Joanna teaches using the Socratic Method. Students are asked questions, and encouraged respond, even if it is with 'I don't know'. An 'I don't know' is not considered a wrong or bad answer, but an opportunity to fill in a gap in knowledge. Students are encouraged to ask their own questions as well, whether it is about how their instrument functions, or about something in the lesson.
Step-by-Step: Students are guided through step-by-step explanations, which they can replicate at home in order to remember what they learned in their lesson.
